Yasin Faraj Faour: A Life Remembered with Love and Kindness

The community of Colchester, Vt., mourns the loss of Yasin Faraj Faour, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather who passed away on January 13, 2025. Born on February 22, 1944, in Sha’ab, Palestine, Yasin’s life was a tapestry woven with resilience, love, and a deep commitment to his family, community, and Palestinian heritage.

A Legacy of Love and Dedication

Yasin’s story began in a humble village, where the seeds of his unwavering kindness and gentle demeanor were first planted. His upbringing instilled in him a profound appreciation for his heritage and culture, shaping the values that would guide him throughout his life. Seeking knowledge and growth, Yasin pursued his education at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, before embarking on a journey to the United States in 1965 to study radiology technology at the University of Vermont. It was here that he played a pivotal role in pioneering angiograms, a testament to his dedication to advancing medical technology.

After his time at Mary Fletcher/University of Vermont hospital, Yasin’s path led him to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where he oversaw the x-ray department at Aramco’s Hospital. In 1991, Yasin and his beloved wife, Wafika, made their home in Colchester, Vt., where he became a pillar of the community after acquiring Sunny Hollow Quick Stop. Known for his willingness to help others and his warm spirit, Yasin quickly endeared himself to all who crossed his path.

A Family Man at Heart

Above all, Yasin was a devoted family man, finding his greatest joy and purpose in the love and bond he shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love formed the foundation of his family, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and strength will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Yasin is survived by his loving wife, Wafika Faour, his children Rami (Rebecca), Samer, and Rabie Faour, and his grandchildren Amira, Yara, Rima, and Aida Faour. In addition, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Wafic (Helene), numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who will carry on his memory with reverence and admiration.
