The 98th annual Vermont All State Music Festival went down from May 7 to 10 at Essex High School in Essex Junction. Over 400 students from all over the state showed up and did their thing with the orchestra, jazz ensemble, concert band, chorus, a cappella ensemble, and modern band. Those last two groups are the new kids on the block, starting up in 2024 and pulling in musicians who are into those fresh beats. They’re a hit too: there were like 100 students vying for just 15 spots in the modern band. The students even got to pick out the tunes they wanted to jam out to before the festival kicked off.

In the latest “Stuck in Vermont” episode, our girl Eva Sollberger, who’s a senior multimedia producer at Seven Days, hung out with the young cats from Punch, the All State Modern Band, and got some footage of them rehearsing. Then she tagged along as they hit up Summit Street School to put on a show for a bunch of hyped-up grade K-3 kiddos. The next night, these teenage rockstars took the stage at Essex High School and straight-up brought the house down. The crowd was lit, cheering, busting moves, and just having a blast.

Filming went down on 5/8/25 & 5/9/25. Oh, and this episode of “Stuck in Vermont” was sponsored by The Vermont Community Foundation. So, yeah, that’s a wrap on another epic music fest in the Green Mountain State. Can’t wait to see what next year brings!
