Stephen Matthew “Steve” Milizia, a beloved member of the South Burlington community, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends after bravely battling cancer for nine years. Born on December 8, 1955, in Burlington, Vt., Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

A Life Well-Lived

Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Milizia, and his son, Christopher David Milizia. Despite facing significant challenges, Steve’s unwavering spirit and determination inspired all who crossed his path. He attended Cathedral Grammar School, Rice Memorial High School, and Johnson State College, where he met the love of his life, Betty. Their union in 1978 was a testament to their enduring bond, and their son, Christopher David, brought immeasurable joy into their lives two years later.

An Inspiration to All

Throughout his career as an accounts representative for various auto accessory and equipment manufacturers, Steve’s work took him across the eastern regions of the U.S. and Canada. His dedication to his profession and his commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Leaving a Lasting Impact

In honoring Steve’s generous spirit, friends and well-wishers are encouraged to make donations to organizations close to his heart, including the UVM Anatomical Gift Program, the American Red Cross, Sail Beyond Cancer Vermont, and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. Steve’s selfless contribution to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Vermont will be commemorated in a service and celebration to be announced in the near future.
