Support VTDigger and Triple Your Donation Before New Year’s Eve

VTDigger Editor-in-Chief Paul Heintz, alongside historian Jill Lepore, recently addressed a captivated audience at the Manchester Community Library on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The event was a testament to the power of community and the critical role journalism plays in connecting, informing, and empowering individuals like you.

Dear reader,

As we approach the end of 2024, it’s essential to reflect on the journey we’ve taken together and the path that lies ahead. VTDigger has evolved from a one-woman operation in 2009 to become Vermont’s most comprehensive newsroom, comprising 22 dedicated reporters, editors, and photographers. This year alone, we have delivered 2,605 impactful stories that have been read over 12 million times by individuals across the state.

VTDigger is not just a source for breaking news; it serves as a platform for dialogue, debate, and community engagement. The 418 reader commentaries we’ve shared have fostered diverse perspectives and meaningful conversations. Your contributions matter – approximately one-third of our stories originate from tips provided by readers like you. In 2024, we received 1,599 valuable tips that helped us remain connected to the issues that resonate most with our audience.

However, despite our progress, there is still work to be done. We are striving to raise $193,317 by December 31 to meet our target, and we are currently at 64% of our goal. Your support is crucial in helping us achieve our mission of delivering essential journalism that educates, enlightens, and holds those in power accountable.

Can we rely on you to join us in finishing this year strong? Your donation today will be tripled, thanks to the generosity of Vermont donors who are committed to sustaining independent journalism that serves the community. With your assistance, we can continue expanding our reach and serving Vermont with the quality journalism it deserves.

Thank you for standing with us on this journey. Your unwavering support fuels our commitment to providing reliable, insightful news coverage that makes a difference in the lives of Vermonters.

Sincerely,

Paul Heintz
