Montpelier Woman Arrested for Selling Crack
A recent incident in Montpelier made headlines as police officers arrested Kristen Doucette, a 32-year-old woman, on Jan. 31 for allegedly selling crack from her home. This arrest came after an investigation that began in 2024, prompted by community concerns about suspected drug activity in the Monsignor Crosby Avenue neighborhood in Montpelier. The police report, shared on Facebook, detailed the charges against Doucette: two felony counts of selling “cocaine base” (commonly known as crack) and two misdemeanor counts of knowingly allowing the sale of regulated drugs in a dwelling.
Crack Sales and Charges
During the investigation, law enforcement officials conducted multiple controlled purchases of crack from Doucette at her previous apartment. The charges she faces carry significant penalties: a maximum of five years of jail time or fines up to $100,000, or both, for the sales offenses, and a maximum of two years in jail or fines up to $15,000, or both, for the charge of dispensing drugs from a dwelling. Following her arrest, Doucette was brought to Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges during her arraignment.
Legal Proceedings and Support
According to a report in the Times Argus on Feb. 7, Doucette was released on a $500 unsecured appearance bond after her arraignment. The Montpelier Police Department received assistance in the investigation from the Vermont Drug Task Force, underscoring the collaborative efforts to combat drug-related activities in the community.
