They are in Maine and Vermont, y’all! The Longfellow Hotel lobby in Portland, Maine is where it’s at, according to Carley Rudd Photography. If you’re on the hunt for some fresh digs, Esquire is here to help ya out by naming three New England hotels that are totally worth booking this year.
Esquire recently dropped their list of the best new hotels in the world for 2025, and guess what? The Longfellow Hotel and The Nevada, both in Maine, made the cut, along with Twin Farms in Vermont. With tons of new hotel projects popping up left and right — about 6,000 in development worldwide and plans for 10,000 more — you’ve got plenty of options to choose from, according to Esquire. They put together a list of the 42 best new and upgraded properties based on visits by editors and contributors.
The Longfellow Hotel in Portland, Maine is a 48-room boutique hotel that opened its doors in 2024. Named after Portland native and poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, this place is described by Esquire as “a place where you sip martinis in a cozy lobby bar as the Maine sun sets through giant picture windows. Where afternoons evaporate in a sauna suite (yes! suite!) while you drink tea in a plush robe.” Sounds pretty swanky, huh? Architectural Digest even named it one of the best designed new hotels in the world, and USA Today readers voted it a must-visit spot in 2025.
Over in York, Maine, you’ve got The Nevada, a hotel that got a recent upgrade and was originally built in 1951. Esquire points out that this was one of Maine’s first motels. “The 21 rooms are sun-flooded and airy. Each with a king-size bed and a view onto Long Sands Beach,” the publication says. “Each boasts a private terrace, from which to watch the sun’s nightly and almost absurdly beautiful show at a stately remove.” Sounds like the perfect place to kick back and relax, right?
Twin Farms in Barnard, Vermont, has been around since 1993 and offers 28 suites and cottages on over 300 acres of woodlands and meadows. And guess what? They’ve added treehouses to the mix! Esquire raves about them, saying, “Not only are they more luxurious than standard hotel suites, but they are roomier than my first one-bedroom apartment. The all-marble bathroom features heated floors and a soaking tub in front of a massive window framing the forest.” Talk about living in luxury! U.S. News & World Report even named Twin Farms among the 50 best resorts in America last year.
