Dr. Richard Rea Reed, who sadly passed away on December 12, 2024, was a man of many talents and a beloved figure in his community. Born on February 17, 1938, to Rea and Anne Reed, Richard was a true family man with a passion for orthodontics and a deep connection to Lake Champlain. He spent his summers enjoying the serene waters of the lake and always had a drive to help others in any way he could.
Education and service played a significant role in Richard’s life. After finishing his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, he pursued his dream of becoming a dentist at McGill University, where he met and married his college sweetheart, Barbara. Their journey together was filled with love, laughter, and a thirst for adventure.
Richard’s career took a turn when he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for orthodontics and decided to further his education at the University of Buffalo. In 1967, he obtained his certificate in orthodontics and a master’s degree, solidifying his place as a respected orthodontist in the Burlington area. His dedication to excellence and innovative approach to orthodontic care left a lasting impact on the community he served for over four decades.
