Sheila Kelly Henderson, a beloved figure in Bristol, Vermont, peacefully passed away at the age of 81 on February 12, 2025, at her home. Sheila had been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2019, showing immense strength and resilience throughout her journey.

Early Life and Career

Born on March 22, 1943, in Madison, Maine, Sheila was the daughter of Stephen and Pearl Kelly. She met her husband, David, at Madison High School, and they embarked on a lifelong journey together, graduating in 1961 and getting married in 1964 after Sheila completed her nursing education at Maine Medical Nursing School in Portland.

Sheila’s dedication to her family and her profession as a registered nurse led her to support David through medical school in Philadelphia. The couple later moved to Burlington, Vermont, and eventually settled in Bristol in 1975, where they established a medical practice that served the community for over three decades.

A Life of Service and Compassion

Sheila’s legacy extended far beyond her professional contributions. She was a devoted caregiver, not only in her role as a nurse but also as a volunteer EMT with the Bristol Rescue Squad. Her compassionate nature shone through in every aspect of her life, whether it was as a sister, daughter, friend, mother, grandmother, or wife.

Throughout her 60-year marriage to David, Sheila found joy in their shared adventures, from raising their three children to traveling, camping, and cherishing time with their six grandchildren. Her commitment to her family and community was unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In Loving Memory

Sheila’s passing is deeply felt by her husband, David Henderson, and their children: Erin Henderson (Bryan Serinese) of Williston, Keely Henderson (Matt Germon) of Lincoln, and Tim Henderson (Jenny Endris Henderson) of Felt, Idaho. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who cherished her presence in their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Sheila’s memory to organizations close to her heart, such as ACHH&H and the Bristol Rescue Squad. A celebration of Sheila’s life is planned for this summer, offering an opportunity for the community to come together and honor her remarkable legacy.
