Nancy Luce Strong, a nurse practitioner who embraced the wonders of the world with open arms and a curious heart, sadly passed away at the age of 72 in Boston after bravely fighting cancer. She was not just a nurse, but also a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and dedication. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., Nancy graduated from Castleton State College Nursing School in 1974 and began her career at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she worked in the Emergency Department and Cardiology.

She went on to complete the UVM Nurse Practitioner program in 1998 and continued her career at UVM and Northwestern Medical Center. Known for her compassion and unwavering commitment to her patients, Nancy’s legacy of love, care, and adventure lives on through her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She found joy in spending summers on Martha’s Vineyard and exploring the world through her travels, always eager to learn and experience new things.

Nancy is survived by her son, Michael Strong, of Santa Monica, Calif., her daughter, Katie Quintin, of Boston, her brother and sister-in-law, David and Elizabeth Luce, of Bolton, Mass., her sister, Susan Thomas, of Scituate, Mass., and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Barns at Lang Farm in Essex Junction, VT. Friends and acquaintances are warmly invited to come together to share stories and memories of Nancy’s remarkable life. A private burial service will be held on Martha’s Vineyard at a later date.

Instead of sending flowers, donations can be made to the Nancy Luce Strong Memorial Fund for Nurse Practitioner Education, which will support aspiring nurse practitioners in pursuing a path of service and healing similar to Nancy’s. Nancy’s spirit will always be remembered through the lives she touched and the legacy of compassion and kindness she left behind.
