Bethel’s First Annual Drag-Themed Christmas Party Hosted by Trio of Performers

Drag queen Lavender Homicide, alongside two other talented performers, is set to light up the small town of Bethel with their first annual Christmas party on Friday, December 7, 2024. This trio of drag artists is on a mission to bring the art of drag to rural Vermont, aiming to create a space where everyone feels seen and celebrated.

The Venue and Performers

The 18+ party is scheduled to be held at the White Church in Bethel. Lavender Homicide, also known as Ima Hoar offstage, has taken charge of organizing the logistics for the event, ensuring everything from the sound system to the venue setup is perfect. Ima’s partner, Adam Messier, will also be performing at the show as Lavender Homicide, showcasing their journey from performing at home during the isolation of Covid-19 to bringing drag to Vermont’s rural communities.

Ima Hoar’s Unique Style

Ima Hoar will be taking the stage for her second performance, showcasing her signature comedy style. Instead of the traditional glitz of burlesque drag, Ima will be embodying her “grandma drag” persona, drawing inspiration from her childhood memories of dressing up in wigs and princess heels. Through her performances, Ima explores the playful exaggeration of gender, finding healing and joy in the art of drag.

Lavender Homicide’s Inspiration

Lavender Homicide, on the other hand, draws inspiration from the rock and roll and punk aesthetics, describing herself as an “80s hooker in a horror movie.” Lavender’s journey into drag began with the encouragement of Emoji Nightmare, a prominent drag entertainer in Vermont, leading her to embrace her true identity and express herself through drag performances.

Ryder Faster’s Message of Self-Acceptance

Ryder Faster, the third member of the trio, uses his performances to spread a message of self-acceptance and love. Drawing inspiration from fellow drag performers like Prince Muffin, Ryder hopes to encourage others to embrace who they are and celebrate their uniqueness.

Creating Inclusive Spaces

Through their performances and events like the Christmas party, these drag performers are breaking barriers and creating inclusive spaces in rural communities like Bethel. By choosing to bring drag to smaller towns, they are not only fostering connections but also challenging the misconception that rural spaces lack inclusivity. Their goal is to spread joy and create moments of celebration closer to home, bridging literal and metaphorical distances through the art of drag.

Join Lavender Homicide, Ima Hoar, and Ryder Faster at the White Church in Bethel this Friday for a night of laughter, entertainment, and celebration. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the magic of drag right in your own community!
